π The Ultimate Pre-Booking Checklist: Hair Color, Bleach & Highlights
Thinking about a transformation? Whether you want a subtle change or a total makeover, the results depend heavily on your hair’s history and health.
Before you book your appointment, please read through this 4-point checklist to ensure we can achieve the best possible results for you.
1. π Check Your Hair Condition
The canvas matters. The current state of your hair has the biggest impact on the outcome of bleaching and coloring.
-
The Risk: If your hair is already damaged from previous colors, heat styling, or lack of care, further chemical processing can make the texture extremely rough.
-
The Warning: In severe cases, processing damaged hair can lead to breakage. If your hair is compromised, we may need to focus on treatment rather than color.
2. π« Color History ( The “2-Year” Rule )
What you did 2 years ago is still in your hair. Please let us know if you have done any of the following in the last 2 years:
-
Dyed your hair Black or Dark Brown.
-
Used Henna.
-
Used Acidic Colors (Hair Manicures/Coatings).
Why is this important? These specific types of dyes are incredibly difficult to remove. Attempting to bleach over them often results in uneven, muddy colors or extreme damage.
-
Note: In many cases involving black dye or henna, we strongly recommend don’t do bleach ,highlights or balayage.
3. β³ Maintenance & Longevity
Know how long your color will last. Different services require different levels of upkeep.
-
Standard Color (Browns/Naturals): If applying to virgin hair, brown bases tend to last a long time. Maintenance is easyβusually just a root touch-up as your hair grows.
-
Bleach, Highlights & Balayage: The “toner” (the distinct color you see over the bleached hair) is delicate. It is very sensitive to washing and can fade significantly after just 5 to 10 washes.
-
The Solution: You will likely need to book a re-toning service periodically or use a professional Color Shampoo at home to maintain the shade.
-
4. π Damage Expectations
Chemicals always affect hair structure. It is important to have realistic expectations regarding hair texture after your service.
-
Standard Dye: Causes minimal damage, but your hair will feel drier than virgin hair.
-
Bleach/Highlights: This involves stripping pigment from the hair. It causes significant structural impact.
-
Your hair will become porous, sensitive, and very dry.
-
The Commitment: If you bleach your hair, you must commit to a routine of intensive home care (hair masks and treatments) to keep it manageable.
-
